Kevin Ayre has had a distinguished career in employment, education and training within Australia and internationally spanning over 40 years in both the public and private sector. He has extensive international experience through his leadership of World Bank projects in Turkey and the Peoples Republic of China, leading the expansion of the Sarina Russo Group in the UK and attending Harvard Business School.
As a senior executive in the then Commonwealth Department of Employment, Education and Training for over 20 years until 1996, Kevin played a key role in policy development and development and delivery of employment, education and training services in Australia. He was closely involved in the development and implementation of a number of major government initiatives in this area including the Australian Apprenticeships, youth employment and training, career education, labour market programmes and small business and entrepreneurial development services. Kevin also directly managed the delivery of labour market services and programmes at a state level with direct responsibility for leading over 1000 staff. He worked closely with major corporate clients to manage the development and delivery of recruitment and training services to meet their skill and staff needs.
After moving to the private sector in 1996, Kevin joined the Sarina Russo Group initially as Business Development Manager for the education and training business and developed new opportunities including corporate training, small business training and recruitment services. He was instrumental in establishing and leading Sarina Russo Job Access as CEO from 1998 to 2012 during which time it was successful in being awarded contracts to deliver public employment services by the Commonwealth Government. Sarina Russo Job Access became one of the major providers of public employment services and apprenticeship support services during Kevin’s term as CEO with over 600 staff nationally. Kevin also led the expansion of the Sarina Russo Group in the UK where there were over 100 staff delivering welfare to work and training services to key employers.
Kevin has always had a keen interest in and commitment to the education and training of young people and in supporting people to develop business opportunities and entrepreneurial skills. He has been a member of a number of boards and advisory committees in the employment, education and training sector and has an extensive knowledge of this sector. Kevin understands the needs and dynamics of a continually evolving labour market and of developing employment and career opportunities.
